I currently have underground service for electric, phone and cable. I have a conduit for he Verizon copper at present. In questioning Verizon about whether they could install FIOS into the conduit I have, this is the response I got (through email):
"I have contacted the engineering group that handles the FiOS installations in your area. I was advised that we can run the "drop", which is the fiber optic cable from our network to your home, in an existing conduit, as long as the conduit is 5 1/2 inches or more in diameter."
This seems like overkill. I would rather not have my front yard dug up.
